Weekly Mixtape 25

After a week of research, I’ve finally come up with my top 20 for this week. It takes a bit of effort having to reap through an entire list of new artists struggling to be heard. Some have hefty budgets but doesn’t have sound well. That said, some of the artists I’ve included are just starting out but very talented and worth listening because they give out a different vibe and emotion. It’s not the usual rhythm.

Jon Bellion is an American Singer songwriter, producer, and rapper. The moment I put my earphones on and played “Woke The Fuck Up” I immediately liked it because of it’s playful rhythms and different styles in one song. For a minute I thought of Justin Timberlake’s style but more playful and upbeat. Jon was greatly influenced by the music of Kanye West, John Mayer, Cold Play and André 3000. He composes and produces all of his own music. In 2014, Bellion wrote the chorus to the song “The Monster” by Eminem featuring Rihanna. He also co-wrote and produced the song “Trumpets” by Jason Derulo in 2012, which was not released until 2013 in the UK and 2014 in the US.

Since it’s the weekend we’re going to chill down with deep house music. LCAW is a German music producer born in Munich. LCAW’s fascination with electronic music started on his first day of clubbing and the rise of German house music scene. If you want to see him live, he’s going to be in Shanghai on June 13 at Factory 54.

At awe with the music of Missio. If you’re using earphones like the Beats Mixr, you’ll appreciate this song more. The composition of the music has so many dimensions. 22 year old Austin, TX resident Matthew Brue conveys emotion with his haunting vocals and cinematic instrumentation under the moniker ‘Missio.’ Incorporating minimalistic songwriting, layered with inspiring drum grooves, Missio has achieved a futuristic sound whilst using elements of musical history to hone his style.

The mixtape is a compilation of indie music from the world’s best emerging artists: Jon Bellion, Milk & Bone, Tropical Zombie, Jane Doze, Jagjaguwar, Canvas, Cappa, Alison Wonderland, LCAW, Goldroom, Bora York, SNBRN, Lane 8, Missio, Men I Trust, Matoma, KYKO, Desmond & the Tutus and Kid Astray. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
